Just purchased new front rotors for an 89. Small thing, rotors(Raybestos)are correct in everyway except for the external casting on the inboard side rubs very slightly on the dust shield(flanged portion).Bearings are also correct(A5 and A12) Yes, I know Ford are much better rotors but I only need these till spring then its being converted to 5 bolt, so I went cheap. Other than better rotor cooling is there any other pros/cons I should be aware of if shields are removed ?? Car is daliy driver. cheers

Dust shields help keep water and contaminants off of the rotors. Try to just bend them back a little. I don't know why you are calling Raybestos cheap, they are a good, quality company that has been around for years. If you must remove them, it should be about 3 screw/bolts to take them off.
