a shop near where i live (Thunder Racing) is advertising a 1 hour dyno session for testing and tuning for $100, and a one hour wide band O2 for and extra $35. can someone shed some light onto this:

does the above sessions (dyno session for tune and testing and wide band O2) only tell you how much hp your car is producing or do they actually make adjustments to your engine to get more hp out of it? is it worth it, i mean does it make a difference that you can feel? would it be worth it on a non modded or lightly modded car? i have a Diablo chip that was installed by previous owner after gearswap for speedo cal. thanks

That is more than likely reffering to you being able to rent the dyno for an hour. Unless you have a means to tune your car (SCT PRP, Predator, Tweecer, etc) then it is not for you.

Well, not really. You need something that you can tune yourself, you can't with a Diablo chip. I know of no shop that will tune a car and include dyno time for $100.

Hope that helps.

Around here dyno tuning goes for about $100 an hour if you already have a chip they use. If you don't it is an extra $350 or so. It is $75 an hour for straight dyno time.

Check with the shop. Maybe they do reprogram Diablo chips.

I was quoted $100 an hour to tune the car with the Diablo. If you don't have anything to tune the car just wait for a local dyno day and get the car dynoed. I payed $50 for 2 pulls and a wide band O2 at a local dyno day.

EDIT: They might be able to reflash your chip. Give them a call and find out.

You're driveability should greatly improve...

Maybe a couple of HP from corrected a/f ratios, and possibly 1-3 MPG improvement.

Regardless it could definitely let you know what you have to work with, and that info could turn out to be priceless.
