My 96 GT had a major malfunction this morning pressure plate i beleive. 5 months on a new clutch errrr! Anyway i have a PI motor ive been wanting to drop in and wondering if its easier to just pull engine swap clutch drop new engine in than dick with dropping the tranny (done that twise since ive owned it) or pull engine and tranny both out swap motors and clutch drop back in? I really need to get this back on the road quick as i dont like putting miles on my cobra.

Yeah, go ahead and do both at the same time. When I pull the engine, I usually pull the transmission out too. It is only a few extra connections, but it is easier than trying to line up the trans in the car.

So what happen to the PP? What makes you think it went bad?

Pushed the clutch in felt a pop and had no pedal so i thought the nut backed off the end of the cable (adjustable cable) anyway i just kept going because i was 50 miles from home and shifted without the clutch (no biggie) never smelt burnt clutch or anything like that and was going up a hill heard a pop and it just reved up(never slipped before this still no burnt clutch smell) and i could hear a whiring/slight rattle from clutch area in all gears no pull whatsoever! driveshaft isnt turning with it in gear so i know its not the rear-end and no fluids comming out of it so im assuming its a pressure plate problem

What clutch should i go with? this is my 2nd upgraded unit from KY clutch in 3 years! no drag strip passes no slicks! Aparently these clutches suck! the last one the TOB was wore through the fingers on the PP and clutch disk was still good! this one im not so sure yet but it had alot of chatter that never went away! I of course machined the flywheel both times. This car is a DD but gets drove hard. here are my mods:

PI intake
3.27 gears
JLT CAI
Shorty Headers
Summit OR H Pipe
American Thunder Catback
255lph fuel pump (put it in when stock pump quit)
short throw shifter
Quadrant,adjustable cable,firewall adjuster
75mm tb
75hp Zex Dry NOS kit

Of course the PI engine swap should add some descent performance expecially since my engine has 330k+ on it

Which clutch kit should i got with? Ford Racing Performance ? Spec ?

I pulled the engine out of mine about 8 months ago and replaced it with a 97 did the clutch/flywheel at the same time. Not to bad when you have a nice engine crane and a second set of hands to guide it onto the trans.
