Efi With Stock Fuel Sending Unit Questions

Okay. I have a 1966 mustang coupe. Right now I'm in the process of building up an engine for the beast. I have a 1991 Mustang motor with edelbrock RPM performer heads, probe forged pistons STD, x303 cam, Magnum procomp pushrods, 1.6 roller rockers, PC-3247 procomp throttle body and a Procomp Manifold PC24030.. among other little things.. I want to get this thing in the car and running ASAP... but I'm having a problem understanding how to get the fuel to the injectors.. SO, how/what do I need to install to get the fuel there. The little 289 had a manual fuel pump, so this is new territory for me considering I know I will need an electric pump.

I know I will probably need something like this kit, but I'm not sure if it's application will work for fuel injection.

Keep in mind I have a stock sending unit (new) for the original 66 set up. Any help regarding this topic would greatly be appreciated. If you have done something like this please tell me what/how you did it.

That pump will not work. For fuel injection you need a high pressure pump since you will need about 40 psi as opposed to 6-7 psi for a carb. You will need a inline electric pump like this http://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-g3138/overview/ and a inline filter. I put a sump on my stock tank, mainly because the stock pickup wasnt big enough to supply my engine. Its fine for a mild engine or you could remove the stock sending unit and weld a 3/8 tube inplace of the 5/16

So, essentially what you are saying is I need this for the pressure along with filters (obviously).. As per the stock sending unit, I would just need to (technically) cut off the 5/16 tube and weld in a 3/8 piece, correct? Also, if I do that, I would be able to use the stock unit?

yes, you need higher pressure.......the sending unit part will still work, your just putting a bigger tube for fuel flow.

The Ron Morris kit linked above has about everything you need including a modified sending unit with a provision for fuel return.

I used the Ron Morris sending unit and bracket along with a Holley inline fuel pump.. gotta have the 40 psi as advised previosly.I used the old fuel lines as my return line and ran new aluminum lines with AN fittings and high pressure fuel hose to connect the stock 91 fuel filterin between.
