I am going to do a PI headswap in a couple of weeks and I am going to take all the egr stuff off. will this hurt anything or do I need to do something else when I do this. Thanks.

Will not hurt anything but I would turn the EGR off in the tune to prevent any chance of a light.

i blocked mine off. you can get a cap from lowes (5/8 brass cap IIRC) to block off the oulet on the manifold and then a small piece of metal to block off the egr on the plenum

Wouldn't this decrease gas mileage and increase chances of pre-ignition?
What are the performance benefits?

whats involved with a pi head swap? do the machined surfaces have to be remachined before u put the new heads on or is safe to just take off the old heads and put on new ones?

So can I drive the car like it is after the pi swap or will I need to get a tune directly after. Its ok to put the new heads on. But I am going to have these resurfaced cause they are used.

You have to tune it off or you will get a code and run lean at idle and part throttle.

Can't say for sure on gas mileage (theoretically yes) but it will increase cylinder temps increasing the chances of pre-ignition (knock) and increase NOx emissions.

None whatsover. Not sure why people do this but it seems to be popular
