Whats up guys, i went to start the stang today, had power but it did nothing when i went to crank it. I took the key out and put it back in and there was no power. I took it back out and tried one more time and bam...it started.

I thought nothing of it. Let it idle for a minute, then pulled off. I got on it a little bit in first and the battery light and abs light came on and went off after a second or two. That worried me so i stopped and checked things out. All checked out fine....

So i kept on driving. The voltmeter seems to be dancing A LOT. I do have udnerdrive pulleys but it never did this before. When i give it gas, it stays high like it is supposed to, but when it idles it drops reallllly low, like close to the 8 on the gauge.

Does the alternator slowly go out? THat what it seems like. Like the alternator is getting weak or something.

I've had the same thing before and it was a combination of the battery and alternator. Go to Autozone and they'll check both for free. I did and it fixed the problem just fine.

You may only need the alternator, so definitely get it tested. Didn't want you to think you'd have to replace lots of parts.

So the test came up that both were bad?

Where can i get a good quality alternator from? Does any one have a chrome one? I am gonna look at summit to see if they offer anything.

Thanks for the reply!

I got both my alternator and battery from autozone for low $$$. They've lasted about 14 months so far and seem to be doing fine. I think it is the 130 amp at Autozone, not the 200 amp.

I've got loads of miles on my car, so this ended up being my third battery, but only my first replacement alternator. Not bad overall.

It may not be THIS simple, but a lot of times it's just a loose wire or connection, especially if it just "comes and goes"

Check all connections, take it to the Zone to check it out.
