Hopefully someone can help me here. I have a 69 w/C-6 and a B&M shifter. Whenever I shift into Reverse, my Turn-Signal/Backup-light fuse blows (which also kills power to the accessory post. What I've discovered so far is that when you engage the backup-light switch on the shifter, power to the accesory post drops. This seems to me like a bad ground/short somewhere along the backup light circuit. I've checked the other circuits on the same fuse (turn signals, washer motor) and they all drop out when the backup switch is engaged. Does anyone have a good idea on how to figure out where the short is? I have the wiring diagrams, but it looks like the wires go all over the place. Do I have to trace every wire at every branch? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
Mike

You only have to trace the backup light wires. You can try unplugging the bu lights first, if your lucky the short is in one of the light sockets.

What Worth Says - I had similar problem and ended up replacing both BU lights. They were just too old to try and repair.
