I have 2 390s and 2 78s. Both 390s are 2v ones a 67 the other 68 and need rebuilds both are out of gaxlie 500s. However I seen a school bus at the jyard late 60s early 70s with what I presume is a 385 series, I see alot of 302,351 and 347 builds so I just wanna stand out and be different I've even seen a few 460s in these cars but rather then ls swapping It I feel like a 390 would be the way to go, I dont plan on drag racing the car or anything like that just a mild rebuild to take to shows or on a night out. I'm starting back at collage this month and if covid simmers down we will be back in class rooms too so I'd be looking forward on starting my engine building 101 class I signed up for!

Wow would be fun to see you put this together. Either style is gonna be tight fit but neat.

Wow. That would be exciting. From the picture you have a nice looking starting point. Nice 76 grill with the chrome turn signals. Is that fiberglass bumper too?
Welcome to the forum.

Thanks! Both are bondo buckets I rescued going on 5 years ago! The white one is the brown red oxcide primer now and its runs with the original 2.8L v6. As far as the bumper it's just the stock bumper primered black. The black one runs on Hopes and dreams it had a hopped up 302 that had a cracked block, so it's been the donor for the other but one day I'd really like to bring it back to life and it would be the one I chop up for the build!

I'm always gonna vote for big blocks of either series. A LOT of work though...

The sentence makes it sound easy. It should be several volumes of sentences to make it real....

I would say 390, but be warned parts are expensive. I got lucky just paying $700 in parts and machine work when I did mine
