Yesterday I fixed a pretty big exhaust leak where my h-pipe bolts to the tailpipe on the passenger side. After I fixed it I have a surging idle that will go up and down about 200rpms. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

There is a "surge" checklist at the top of the forum. You will find all of the information you need to properly diagnose the problem there...

I looked at that but the surging is not that high only to maybe to 800rpms, none of those seem to have anything any common with mine. Also in my experience normally if you change something with your car and you have problems it is not normally a coincidence. I was just wondering if anyone knew why fixing an exhaust leak would effect idle?

Theory: By sealing up your exhaust you have changed the amount of backpressure in the system and the compter can not adjust correctly.

See the sticky. The idle surge comes in all speeds and flavors, and the information in the sticky is for all of them.

unhook your negative battery cable for 20 mins to reset the ECU. Then see if it's better when you start it again.
