Does an exhaust leak cause a BIG power loss?

I doubt that there is any real power loss involved in an exhaust leak. Annoying yes, power loss no. Unless one of your header tubes has a big 6in crack in it, the usual annoying tick tick leak isnt gonna cost u any power.

If the LS1 is a hardtop then it is going to eat you, unless the guy can't drive.

What? He has H/C/I, a mild combo yes but he should be able to beat a near stock LS1. I am stock heads and cam and i run close with most near stock LS1's.

Agreed I have seen 3 stock ls1 ss crapmaros run at the local track and the best time out of them was a 13.3... (he had flowmasters and a shifter).....I think that a HCI setup could beat that if tuned right with some traction.....
