Exhaust Popping with New X-Pipe?

I just installed my offroad X-pipe today and after i took it for a drive i noticed a lot of popping sounds comming from the exhaust on hard deceleration. The only thing that i can think of that caused this is leaving the metal tube comming from the smog pump open and just hanging next to the X-Pipe (the x-pipe does not have a place to connect the smog pump pipe to.) Do you guys think this is my problem? If not what else could it be?

Yes, it sounds similar to a backfire, however it is not a loud shotgun sounding type of backfire.

That noise is normal. It happens when you get rid of your cats. I'm pretty sure it's just the leftover fuel burning in the pipes since there are no cats. The smog pump pipe being loose won't have any effect on that.

Its just the change in the back pressure from going from cats to having no cats. Its pretty normal most X-H pipes will do it.

I know one of my friends was getting a popping sound like you are describing from his smog because he had it disconnected and hanging like that.

i just put on an o/r hpipe yesterday and left the smog pump line hanging disconnected, is that gonna affect me at all? and can i just zap strap it to something to stop it from vibrating?

I have an off-road H, and it pops under deceleration. Very common with off-road pipes.

why does this happen? my car's got enough nasty sounds as it is (ToB, scrapping under acceleration cause i scraped a few times since the drop) and i really don't want popping when i get an o/r h.

It's a normal sound, mine does it bad when I rev and drop my foot off of the accelerator. It sounds good, not like something is wrong.

depends on whos looking. little old asian ladies give me the wtf look, younger guys is like o **** that sounds nice. girls gimme the o your car is loud, and that makes me hot site kinda look. old guys just look and smile and usually give a thumbs up

Mine does the same thing . Seems to be a normal sound when you take off the cats . I think it sounds pretty cool >

Yup thats me, you had the red 95 right? I think the next cruise is in Febuary, although im not sure where its going to be held. Ill see you at the next one...

A lot of girls I know that dont know **** about cars are like "your car is so loud and obnoxious!". A lot of people gave me the WTF look when mine popped after the x install, but it dosent do it much anymore now.
