When the car is running the left side of the exhaust runs cold and the right side runs hot.

can anybody tell me why that is happening?

How and where are you checking the temps? What's the timing set at and how do the spark plugs look?

i bought the car as a project and have had it for awhile. i just put a v8 in it but it was a 4 cylinder. the spark plugs are good, put in new motorcraft plugs..i havnt checked the temps of the exhuast but it is very distiguishable difference between the pipes..one is hot like it should be but the other is almost ice cold.

I don't think I'm gonna have an answer, but I have some questions that might help someone else:

Does the car run alright? Not hard to start...this overlaps into the timing issue mentioned before.

Does exhaust come out of both pipes?

The easy answer is that it sounds like maybe exhaust is only coming out of one hot pipe, but that would be obviously very noticeable.

It's really hard to respond to the exhaust temps without you actually measuring them. Also, what do the plugs look like now? Pull codes too...
