When I bought my 1984 GT-350 a little while ago it had two wires from the voltage regulator just kind of dangling there unhooked to anything. There's an orange and black one and a yellow one. What do they hook up to? Anyone know?

If you have a 3G alt retrofitted in there, someone probably just omitted reusing any of those stock external-regulator wires. The 3G is internally regulated so the old reg becomes an antique.

It's an externally regulated alternator.

Is the wire black/orange or orange/blk?

Is there a trace on the yellow wire?

Do they both show battery voltage with the car off?

Found the answer!

Ford Fuel Injection » Alternator Files

They have the wiring diagrams for 1g, 2g, 3g, 4g, and 6g

If you look at the wiring diagram, you'll see my questions were quite pertinent. Your listed wiring colors don't match the diagram, and you can see I was trying to ascertain if the trace was worn or you had your primary and trace colors backwards.

In any case, glad you found a diagram that you can use to remedy your mismatched wiring.

Yeah, they did a real hack job. Looking at the harness I see that they spliced different color wires into the it. So what should have been green and red, ended up orange and black ect. Thanks for responding though. I appreciate it.
