How much lift does an F-cam have and would it make the engine real lopey? I went and looked at a car today and the guy said it had an F-cam. The car was setup for a supercharger but the charger is gone everything esle for the charger is still there. The car Idled like crap and it sounded like the rocker arms were hitting the Valve covers.

Yes, it's quite lopey. The computer probably didn't care much for it with a 109° lobe separation, unless it was tuned.

Im still iffy about if this car even has a cam.. There are no vacum lines hooked to anything and the guy says the motor was just rebuilt. But the car sounds like complete ass and it was banged in the front with a shotty repair job. Im probabbly going to walk on this deal.

With this cam, power doesn't come on till about 3k RPM's. I used to have it, power is great after 3k rpms though.

thats not a very good blower cam, with the 109* ls
with that, you literaly blow your boost right out the exhuast, with all that overlap.

Actually…it's original intention was a forced induction cam. It works well on both super and turbo apps.

Yeah the F cam was Ford's blower cam. My pal had it in his 302 hci and paxton. It was quite lopey and made good power.

Really? I thought this was a cam that was between the E and X specifically for Power added cars.

It made great power with my B Trim back in the day.

I just picked up a 93', actually a member of this boards ride and it has a F-Cam with Trick Flow Track Heat intake and Twisted Wedge heads with a mild port job...is this a good cam for this set-up??? He originally said it was going to be blown but sold it before he did the blower, should I stay with this cam or go to another one??? It has a great lope but seems to have a miss and it is not chipped or tuned, just timeing and fuel pressure set. Just curious if this is too much cam for a N/A motor..motor is brand new (9K miles) 302 crate motor w/ 1.6 roller rockers. I can give extensive list of mods if needed. Thanx.

If you research on what a good off the shelf blower cam is…and you'll find the f303 is a-top most of the lists.

Duration = 226/226
Lift = .512"/.512"
LSA = 114* (109*intake/119*exhaust)

And finally, you cant go spouting off hp claims on what you felt. Chances are…the power difference was quit comparable. The big reason you felt less h/p is the f-cam is a mid-high rpm cam. To take advantage of it you have to either have forced induction…or give it more rpm.

People can argue the cam all day...some will love it, other will have crashed and burned with it..like everything in life. Real question is....what does the car HAVE vs...what the owner says it has? Can he provide any documents to confirm the parts he tells you it has? Guys love to list off items to generate interest...words like 'cam' and 'ported' when unfortunately too often the intake bolts have never even been out. Go in questioning everything and decide if the car 'as is' is really something you want...
