Is the 4.6L in the F150's the same as the mustang? Could someone put a cobra intake manifold on one?

The engines are similar, but I don't think you can switch the manifold. Try www.f150online.com for advice.

You can't put a Cobra intake on it, but you probably could use the Bullitt. You will have to change things around under the hood to do it though...

The air intake tube, most or all of the vacuum hoses and possibly some of the wiring.

The motors aren't exactly the same but they are similar.

I'm gonna be building my 4.6l in my truck up w/ mustang parts. That's why I'm here... These mustang guys know the 4.6l engine better than any of the F-150 guys. Few build them in the trucks, that's why I'm doing it with mine. To be different from the other F-150s... Fun blowing away the 5.4s with your little 4.6l...

intel, i've done what you're doing and let me tell you, its fun.............

i think the cam profiles of the stangs are different. obviously the intake/throttle body has a different configuration, but nothing that a little fabrication can't fix. i'm actually toying with the idea of putting a mustang PI intake manifold on my truck. don't know that i'll do it because of the mess i'll create with the blower intake, but who knows......all in the quest of power......

NEVER LOST TO A 5.4...........but there's one somewhere....

I think that the only things which are different on the F-150 engine which are not compatible with the Mustang GT are the heads. Someone once told me that the heads on the 4.6L F-150 engine are different than the heads that are on the 4.6L engine for the Mustang GT. Can anyone in here acknowledge this? I am not sure whether I am right or wrong about this.

99+ the heads and cams are the same if i am correct. the truck has a different intake, a lot taller than on the mustang.

bullittmcqueen, I've already done something to my truck w/ the nitrous... Not sure what but I'm smashing the plug in the #8 cylinder and everyonce in awhile the truck runs really really bad (Shaking, can hear metal noise, severe power loss)...

That's why I'm looking at ordering a longblock from DSS Racing soon. Still looking into info on them.

i think the cam specs are different on the truck motor. That and the intake are both tuned for more torque and less top end. Very similar to the new 3 valve engines.

Cobra intake is for 4v heads and will not work on 2v heads. F150 PI heads are same as Mustang. PI are PI . The bullit will bolt up, you will have to modify for throttle and MAF. I don't know what might be in the way on the engine to stop the Bullit intake from working.
