I searched for a thread about people favorite roads to drive but couldn't find one, to keep it solid I am surprised. Let's list our favorite roads and highways to drive and what area there in. I am in the South Bay Area of California, I love to drive backroads... I had a 240sx in high school and have always been interested in the handling of my cars. I am blessed to have to many backroads to choose from. Some of my favorites are...

CA 9 (fun road that leads to CA 35 or Santa Cruz coast... there are passing lanes and people generally let the faster cars pass. Driving to Big Basin is a great drive with a nice Vista Point that you are sure to see some other enthusiasts!
CA 35 (if you have a chance to take CA 35, CA 9 or CA 84 Alice's Restaurant is a great destination... its pretty deep in the hills and is a great drive no matter what route you take. On a Saturday or Sunday afternoon the lot is filled with car enthesiusts and motorcyclists. everything from American Muscle, Imports, Harleys... :poo: I just got passed by a ferrari the other week. As an enthusiast if you fill up your tank, with all the vista points and hiking trails you can easily spend all day in the hills.
CA 130 (hella twistie turnies, more of a low speed drive but there are great vies of the south bay, if you make it to the top there is an observatory above the light pollution of the city, great spot to park and bring a telescope or just look at some stars with the naked eye)
CA 152 (Great way to get to the beach, and if there's no traffic some sections are smooth as butter.

Theres plenty of roads im leaving out but these are fasho my favorites!

Not too many here in Dayton, Ohio, but over in Eastern Ohio there are some very fun mountain roads around Hocking Hills area, and the "Triple Nickel" Rt. 555 from Zanesville down to Marietta! Also more fun roads around SE Ohio as well.

Maine has nothing.
If it is not the Interstate, then the roads are crap. You may find a smooth 5 mile stretch here and there, but the rest of the road is uneven, potholes or crumbling apart. When I moved here, I was stunned by the number of unpaved roads here. Thank goodness the 1/8 mile racetrack has a good surface, although, until a few years ago the shut down area was sketchy and the return "road" was barely passable. Thankfully, those have been fixed.

I live out in the Ding-Toolies. If it's paved, it's a pretty good road. :nice:

There is really no shortage of places to go fast out here. I find it useful to slow everything back down when there is traffic and ensure I've more passing room than I need even if they decide to try and put up a fight. O_o

Damn that's disappointing but not too surprising for Maine.... what does that do for peoples suspension setups, does everyone run with a looser suspension? you probably don't have to many lowered cars on the road.

The Ding-Toolies sounds like a place that doesn't have alot of patrolling of the roads, I'm sure you can have a good amount of stress free fun!

The interstates are fine. You just have to be cautious when going out and about in a lowered vehicle. Most people know their own roads that they travel and prepare accordingly. You can navigate any road, just don't do it at warp speed. Most street Rods, Hot Rods, Muscle Cars are only driven 6 months of the year because of the climate. You have a Hot Rod ect and you can expect it to be in the garage 6 months out of the year. During the down time, people are using their snow machines (snow mobiles) or whatnot since the HotRod is in the garage. Everything is seasonal.

There is a really cool road in Lewiston Idaho called Old Spiral Highway. It winds down a cliff face, really cool view and really fun to drive. The pavement is well maintained too. Probably my favorite road to drive of all time.

There's def a time and direction for fun. There's also times when I just gotta suck it up and do 50 behind grandma too. The same curves I want to go shoot also keep me from passing on occasion. :(

Ay I feel it, although we dont have a serious winter where im at, last year the rainy season had my foxbody sitting for a few months.... also every now and then theres a semi on the twisties and you have to be patient and wait for a passing lane.

Ok boys and girls, this is by far the best piece of road I've ever driven. ca 20 between Willits and Fort Bragg Ca. This is a 2 lane road with a double row of reflectors down the middle of the road. I've not been there for a couple of years but I have never seen the rd. in bad shape. If you like to go fast around corners, then this 40 -50 mile stretch should put a :poo: eatin grin on your face. I have been thru there at all times of the day driving everything from my work truck pulling a cargo trailer to a sports car just pick your time accordingly. my first time thru took me 3 tries to get this one stretch of curves out of my system{ 3' feet of bank from 1 side of the road to the other} imagine being shot out of a slingshot. have fun, Brian W. ps preview it on google maps

That road looks fun, and i know there must be less traffic then these bay area roads. I have a friend who moved not to far from there and has been telling me i need to come for a visit.

1 - It starts from the tiny house.

2 - 45 degree turn on a steep decline. The decline begins just before the turn. I've pulled .8G on this turn according to the indicator in the car.

3 - I've hit 160 on this straight and passed so many people that I've lost count. You can see from turn 2, all the way to turn 4 on this straight and there's just one driveway on the whole stretch.

4 - This turn starts as a steep incline and turns into a steep decline at the 45 degree turn. Somebody runs straight off into the field at this turn at [least] once a year. Super treacherous at night if you're not familiar with it.

This is a [broad daylight] [good weather] track only. Just the other day, some young kid went end-over-end just to the east of number 1.
(yeah, on the straight  )
Going too fast, small SUV, road bump/dip = Carnage. Kid was ok, car was fukt.

Well so many smooth roads here, my ride to work for 15 + years was a 25 mph twisty I took at 60-65 and it was smooooth. Then The 215 parkway was were I opened it up 75-80 for a quick blast to my exit. Just last week I transferred work locations and now a 7 min surface street ride and I'm there.
These are roads in Henderson ,Nevada just outside Vegas.

CA Highway 1, Highway 2, Highway 166 and Highway 58 with the special memory of the wife sunbathing on a desolate road in our "86 convertible GT, coming back from our anniversary in Monterey.

Highway 58 in September was a beautiful valley drive and vistas of farms and pastures where suddenly disrupted when an F/A-18 was down nap of the earthing it.... and he popped up at the curve.....to see my topless......well - I guess the car and wife were topless. I locked eyes with him as he enjoyed several of the finer / funner things in life simultaneously....and bang - he was gone.

For all the CRAP i put up with the PRK - the roads - when I can get away from the office, work and this keyboard.
