Took my first long trip in my stang, actually it was my first long trip in any sort of car. Went real well, and got to strecth her legs on those long straight wyoming roads. Got an average of 24.6MPG at 80-85MPH. I thought it would be pretty cramed but it was really comfortable (although hitting the racoons wasnt so comfy, nor was the roadside sobriety test from the country bumpkin police officer). Was really surprised with how good it did on fuel, alot nicer then driving the truck 700 miles!!

yeah i drove 1,200 miles on a one way trip and was pretty comfortable driving, except for a few parts on I-95 where the road sucks.

It's not too bad if you only have 1 passenger, but put some friends in the back and they'll be complaining

The week after I bought my stang we took an 800+ mile road trip. I averaged 28 MPG at 85+ mph over the grapevine.

We drive this trip regularly and on the previous trip we took an '02 exploder with the 6 cyl and only got about 16 mpg.

My Fater-in-law drove the same trip in his taurus at 65 ish mph and only got about 17MPG!!!!!!!

Needless to say I was very impressed and the Mustang was more comfortable than the Explorer any day.

They can be great roadtrippers if setup correctly.

im 5'8"

perfect stang riding height.

but my back gets fatigued after a while, but that happens to me in every vehicle, or anywhere that requires me to sit for an extended time.

true, i used to drive home 400 miles each way when i would visit home from Houston every couple of months and have made 3 1,100 mile trips in my car and would get fantastic gas mileage, 27+ with the a/c on. not as plush as, say, a Caddy or a Volvo but not bad

5th gear, 75mph, 2000rpm

stock 3.27's are good for something at least

I'm the same gear wise except I would get in the 24ish range because of my downshifting and passing frequently because old ladies suck.

My trips are roughly 200 miles on I75, I cant wait to do some long distance night drives with my new HID's.

I'm 6', and me and my 6'1" friend had zero complaints about the ride. Weighed down with a week's luggage (for two guys) in the trunk, the trip from Minneapolis, MN to Austin, TX was cake. Enough room to stretch your legs, and the seats were plenty comfy. The extra weight in the car made it suck up the bumps like a Lincoln.

~28mpg the whole way at 80-85 the whole way down and back. Except a stretch through Kansas on the tollway where speeds inexplicably remained at 110mph for 100 miles or more

Imagine if you have no A/C like i did, it's no fun. 3 guys in my car, a full tank of gas and a butt load of luggage made my car feel like a tank in the hot sun!
