Looks like my bodywork jobsJeez! That thing has bondo falling off all over! I wonder if that thing really ever was used.
Saw this pic, didnt know where to share it. The fox 5.0 limo
I had the same leak. Dropped the trans, pulled the tail shaft off, had a new bushing pressed in, changed the rubber seal. No more leak.
I did all that in the process of doing flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, u-joints etc.
There’s some good online vids of removing the tail shaft. I bought the bushing and brought the tailshaft and bushing to a tranny shop. $30 bucks and they had the bushings changed out.
I imagine the intense heat is due to low fluid, so I’d get on right away, before it becomes much more expensive.
Was trying to change the fluid today, but the drain plug seems like its welded on. I cant get it off, and I only have pretty basic tools but I may be able to use an impact to get it loose. Thanks for the info, I'll have to change the seals and bushing now too. I thought it was weird how hot it felt.
I would double check your u joints while you’re there. If they are worn, it will probably wear out your seals again. I was also advised to change my yolk when I did the bushing so they wear in together.
I'd do what I want. If you're worried about resale, sell the car and buy a Fairmont.Wanted to get your guys opinion on something. I really like the widened look and was thinking out buying wide works 50mm fender flares. But then I thought as the years go on and these cars get fewer and fewer, I wonder if it's a smart idea to mess with the quarter fenders by cutting them. And then secondly, I really like the look of bigger radials in the back, like a weld wheel. I dont think I've ever saw someone with welds and widened in the rear, is it possible?

If you do a nice enough job, the car will appeal to somebody. I cut the tail off of one and welded 68 sheetmetal on in its place. If there ever was a more hacked up fox, that one was it. It still netted me 14k.
I'd imagine some nicely done flares wont impact things too badly in hinsight.
Your shifting issue sounds clutch related to me. For the widebody thing, I know the whole "it's your car so do what you want" theory, but you did ask for opinions. You have a coupe. A nice looking one at that and I personally think it will look stupid with wide flares. Putting wide fender flares on it and/or cutting anything will be something that is not easily undone so I would REALLY think about this before doing anything.
