I have a friend with a 97 GT that is showing a p1443 code. The Car is completly stock with no mods what so ever. I know its has to do with the Evaporative Emission Control System control valve but where is that located and what would have to be replaced? We need help ive been looking all over to get answers hopefully someone here can help out.

go to the dealer and get a EVAP purge control valve. i forget where they are on the GT's but look around the firewall area on the drivers side with the new part and compare until you find it. there should be 2 vacuum lines and an electrical connecter going to it. after you replace it, either take off the negative battery cable for 10 mintues or get a scan tool to clear the code and you are good to go.

Been there done that. Cost is about $15 and the new part has been revised. Common problem.
