FL UNDER STATE OF EMERGENCY

i posted this in tech so the most people could see it. i live in tampa, FL directly in the path of hurricane charley. im near the water so the bay is going to back up. were expecting 14 foot storm surge. and 110mph sustained winds by 9pm tommrow night. gusts anywhere from 130-150mph.

there evacuating the most dense county in the state. pinellas. over 380,000 people from that country alone.

close to 650,000+ over all in hillsbourugh (sp), pinellas and st. pete.

if there are any other tampons (people from tampa) on stangnet i would like to here your plans of evaucation.

we cant leave as we have no where to go. were battin down the hatches and riding her out hopefully. there hasnt been a direct hit to tampa in over 100years. this one will be bad.

i ask for your prayers for the people leaving the city. hopefully they are all taking this seriously as it is no joke....

Wow we have none of that crazy weather stuff here. From Vegas i wish you guys in tampa the best of luck. Try to keep us updated if you can as we know that there are many things more important right now than posting here.

My family is lucky enough to be 25 or so feet above sea level (wow that sounds like a lot) so we are in zone D or E I believe. We also got that 3m hurricane film on most of the doors and windows, so we will be boarding up the front door (with glass on the top) and one window that didn't get the film.

yes your lucky in palm harbor... im in a A level zone.

they just released that hillsborugh (my county) is mandatory by 6am tommrow. there evac'n 300,000 people from my country... so its a million or so now...

thanks guys if i can i'll keep you posted. power is going to be cut off to our houses tommrow morning were leaving tonight around 2am to try and beat some of the traffic

Were all screwed!! Im in Central Florida so we'll probably get a good serving...Im mainly worried about branches and stuff flying around and hitting my Cobra. I hope a car cover is enough to protect her.

we're gonna gets alot of wind and rain thats for sure not as bad as the keys but i dont expect it to be a dry weekend.

I'm in Daytona. I am hoping it won't be too bad. My GT is in the garage with a car cover on and my garage starts flooding, she's going up on jackstands. Best of luck to all of you who are going to get it harder than I will.

If you have family or friends north and west like Tallahasse ... I'd make tracks.
Charley is expected to make landfall as at least a Cat 2.

Considerable damage to shrubbery and trees with some trees blown down. Considerable damage to mobile homes, poorly constructed signs, and piers. Coastal and low-lying escape routes flood 2-4 hours before arrival of the hurricane center. Small craft in unprotected anchorages break moorings.
Severe weather tends to devleop on the east side of a landfalling hurricane. Note Jacksonville's tornado and SSE GA recent reports.

Considering the storms track it might be a nice time for everyone to take a trip to Miami to ride the storm out. if i had to keep my car outside i would pay for a garage size self storage unit to put it in........It would be cheaper than the aggravation from dealing with an insurance company because something hit it.....been there, done that...Hurricane Bob 1991

Keep in mind when looking at that map...the strongest winds are on the front right side of the hurricane. So....orlando (bottom of the "L" in FL) will probably get some considerable wind.

as much as i would like to it takes way to long to get there and we just dont have the time. we have no planned to head to carolwood its not to far away (about an hr) but its a lot higher ground and no storm surge to deal with.
plus w/ close to a million people evacuating theres no way to use the interstates.....

thank goodness i dont have a stang right now... sold it to my uncle last month.
