Flowmaster Force II Vs. American Thunder... whats the difference?

American Thunder Exhaust Systems:

Force II Exhaust Systems:
The Force II system is designed to provide plenty of "Flowmaster tone" under acceleration but produces lower sound levels while cruising.

they both come with 2 chamber mufflers, but would the fource II system come with the delta flow mufflers?

force 2 i believe is 3 chambered mufflers and american thunder is 2 chambered

Matts89LX5.0 is correct. I have the Flowmaster Amercan Thunder system and it is also delta flow, which is what I think all flowmasters come with now. The mufflers alone won't really make it that loud, put on a o/r H pipe and some headers and hold your ears.

I hate my flowmasters The fit sucks and the drone around 2000rpm is aweful. If your thinking about getting flowmasters, dont. Get a straight through muffler, the drone is supposed to be almost eliminated with that kind of design.

What type of "straight-through" mufflers are yuo referring to? I'm a big Flowmaster fan, but on my 5.0 the drone is from 2300-2600 and that's my freeway rpms! Drives me up the friggin wall when I'm tired, headache, etc.... Never had the same problem with carb'd muscle cars though... Must be somrhting to do with the EFI, or the cam.

Folks with longtubes claim reduced/eliminated drone. I've had Flowmaster, Bassani, SpinTech mufflers and resonators, and now MagnaFlow on mine - none eliminated the drone at 2000 rpm. Currently I've got a MagnaFlow (straight through perforated design) feeding into a SpinTech design (chambered) and it still drones. I've become a used muffler dealer. I've had it - gonna find a used factory muffler off of a stock Camaro or Firebird and put that on. I'm tired of the noise.

I run Hooker MAXFlow mufflers. I don't have any noticeable drone. But they are a bit of a raspy muffler. More so when they are new. And they are a straight thru design.

I measured 3 1/2" of muffler offset yesterday on a 85 stang.The drivers side muffler is closer to the fire wall. It is very quiet with no drone. It has a cheap set of turbos, they look just like mine. It has a Y-pipe going into 3" single exhaust, then into a small cat, then Y's back out into the cheap turbos and stock LX tails. This may be the fix we have been looking for. I too want the drone gone. This 85 sounds stock, I want mine a bit louder without all the drone.

almost all mufflers have the drone...its just which one sounds best to you and which ones you can actually deal with

It is true that longtubes knock out drone. Headers make as much difference with sound as mufflers if not more. It's the total package that makes the sound. IMO, almost all mustangs sound much similar with the stock headers, cam, and mid-pipe.

My set up will be more akin to the F-body set up - no room on mine for duals; not even enough room to get a tail pipe over the axle.

your gonna want a 3-chamber flow or a straight thru muffler like dynomax race bullets. they hardly droned when i had them on my 87lx. i llove the drone man that is the sound of all those hoofs beating.

dumps baby. had to do that on the Spyder, since the original design sucked (lower the car and the pipe hits the top of the axle). so i tossed that ANSA exhaust out back. you can have the only 242 with dumps! J/K, Michael.
BTW, with all the emissions stuff, and flowmasters, i have no drone. or im too deaf to hear it.

BTW, you could also go the route the i have now - side pipes.
whahooo. just dont let Ms. Yount burn her leg upon egress.

I've ran 3 chamber Flow's, 2 chamber Flows & now Magnaflow long bodies. The 2 chambers were by far the loudest -- the drone was deafening also. The long body Magnaflows are great. These muf's are loudest at idle, are very quiet at cruise and are very unique at WOT. The worse part about them is you're forced to run dumps with them. My turndowns are about 1/2" from my rear end.
