Ford Aluminum Driveshaft!

Hi,

I have been lookin around for the FRPP driveshaft, but haven't found one for my 01 V6 with an auto. Any help would be appreciated,

I have an 01 V6 auto too and I've been wondering about a new driveshaft for it too. Does anyone know if aluminum driveshafts really help much? If so what kind of gains if any does this help. Is it really just for a weightloss on the car or is does it actually help transfer power since the driveshaft can spin easier with less weight?

It's 250$. It'll help out a bit, it's lighter by 10lbs, it'll get more power to the wheels, and it'll be a lot quieter and smoother than the factory steel or iron one. Also you'll need to get some D-shaft safety loops. They sell them at gefracing aswell.

Why would you need a d=shaft safety loop? If your not busting your stock iron one then there is no need to worry unless you install it incorrectly. THey are supposedly twice as strong the steel ones.

I don't know why you need them? When I ordered mine they called me and said I need an FRPP safety loop. They said it had something to do with the size of it or some such nonesense.

The loop is there so if you bust the shaft on the transmission side of things it won't dig into the ground and pull vault the car into the air.

The saftey loop is just that, a saftey. It would probably not pole vault the car but keep it from coming into the compartment more than anything.

A safety loop is a waste of time and the shaft shouldn't cost that much. I got mine from Summit for $160 shipped and it fit without a problem on my '95 auto. I wouldn't expect to feel any gains, but it did smooth out higher speed stuff such as on the highway. I still have my FRPP box with the stock shaft in it

P.S.
A safety loop is there in case you blow up a u-joint and thats not nearly as easy to do as some people think. Unless it has 500K miles on it and knocks like theres no tomorrow. your driveshaft won't be falling down any time soon.

I dont have a V6, but i noticed a difference in throttle reponse in my car, it seems to rev quicker and DEF. reduced rattles and other Bad harmonics.. I dont have a safety loop. but I dont think you'll have to worry about that unless you have a Blown bigblock with slicks.. there isnt much chance of you twisting off a U joint.

I read in another thread about the safety loop that those "myth buster" guys tried there damnedest to get a car to pole vault from a broken driveshaft and couldn't. I think most people agree that it is to protect the occupants from the shaft smashing against the floor boards when "cut loose" at high speed.

The most they got it to do was lift off the ground for just a second but could not get it to pole vault like they were trying to and they tried like hell just to get it to lift.

Dude, it´s a V6.....GT´s don´t have a safety loop, why should a V6 have one? They´re just trying to rip you off some bucks.
