Ford Contour fan motor plate?

Does anyone know what this metal plate is for on the Ford Contour fan motor circled below?
It’s only meant to be on one motor as the other is not even tapped for screws.

It's a heat shield. On the Contour and Cougar, the exhaust manifold is near that area.

did you get that contour fan from the walmart parking lot at 15th and Lexington?
just wondering

I did not haha. Picked it up from a boneyard in Milwaukee WI
