fox airbags...still safe?

I miss my last steering wheel I got this killer limited GT Grant wheel that was a three spoke all leather wheel with the Pony horn button, man that thing was nice. I put it on cause after working on my GT one day I noticed the air bag sensors were gone, well there was one but it was crushed so I figured why the hell do I need the air bag wheel But Foxes are really strong cars anyway, Ive been T-boned in one and in a really bad accident in another both without air bags and both times I didnt have a scratch. On the other hand when I was working at Audi and took a newidh Jetta out for lunch I T-boned a brand new Mustang GT (his fault and he got the citation) doing 20-25 mph and knew the airbag was comming so I took my hands off the wheel and just ended up getting burned by the wheel and a $380 repair bill on my Rolex for the band getting blown off my arm by the bag. I hate air bags! ABS is the only safety feature I want.

Some mid 70s GM Cars came with Airbags, I remember watching movies in Driver Ed in High School and seeing some Old Lady that had her Grand Son Standing in the Front Seat and she hit into a Bus and they were both fine afterwards.

Ford was the only American manufacturer to use a drop-in fuel tank before abandoning the design in 1971. On Mustangs built from 1964 through 1970, the gas tank was simply dropped into a hole in the trunk. If the tank is ruptured in a rear-end collision, there is no solid barrier--just a flimsy seat back--between the passengers and the gasoline.

Apparently this ambulance chaser managed to find 5 newer cases. He blames it on the location of the gas tank, which btw, has nothing to do with gasoline coming into the passenger compartment and I hope he knows it. Where, btw, would he suggest the gas tank be placed? Perhaps under the hood? Just for fun, I googled the names of his other victims and the only one to come up in a newer mustang was Danielle Wright. And she only came up in a NY times article about his lawsuit

About 50 Mustang fatalities were linked to fires between 1979 and 2000, according to material Ford provided to Mr. Fried, out of about 3.3 million Mustangs.

I'll take those odds.. Altho the reason for the fires were the trunk floor being made up of the top of the gas tank which ford stopped doing in 1971 so it couldn't happen in my car anyway.

I was sitting in the middle of the road waiting to turn left on my lunch break one and day. I was talking on my cell phone waiting to turn and I hear a screeching sound (brakes locking up) and I look in my rear view mirror and there is a 2006 ford taurus getting ready to slam into me and so I put it in 1st to take off and the damn car spins (never been so mad about spinning) and he hits me doing 60 (and that was after he his brakes) and he hit me in the right taillight crunching my car all the way up the quater panel into the roof. The fuel pump didnt even quit like it was suppose to (inertia switch) but hey atleast it didnt catch on fire

My GF had a Sonoma that she rear ended an SUV in....the front was pretty F'ed up...you could see the air bag sensors in plain sight but the bag didn't deply because somehow they didn't get hit.

fox airbags...still safe?
