Hey guys,
Thinking of starting a project with a few of my friends. Had a few questions regarding swapping an ls into a Foxbody.

So my closest friend who would be helping me with this, his dad owns a junkyard and said he could be able to get us a 2004 Silverado 1500 for free. If we picked up a clean foxbody roller what aftermarket parts would we need to buy and what parts could we use from the Chevy? I know we would need mounts, exhaust work and stuff like that but noy 100% sure on everything else we would need. Could we be able to use the radiator, alternator all that stuff from the Silverado? Also how difficult would it be to buy a stock harness and rewire it as I've seen some videos on it. What would you guys estimate the total price of this to be keeping in mind we are on a budget. We would have access to a mechanic shop for now.

Sorry if this question has already been asked couldn't find much help on the internet though, Thanks a lot!

hard to believe the web search came up thin. You likely will not get much help on stangnet, we do have one member that stuck an ls in a fox but I think he pulled it out and stuck it in a sn95, I'll try to give him a shout but his car has extensive mods. I do know you need an aftermarket k member, maximum motorsports seems to be the 'go to' around here for quality stuff like that. Car Craft did a junkyard 5.3 ls truck build that made over 500 hp on a budget, hit up carcraft.com and look for 'the iron maiden'. That should cover the engine stuff nicely.
@tannerc91gt is a member here that has an ls swap capable of melting asphalt, he may chime in.

Can’t ballpark you a price but you can retain the foxbody radiator no problem.

You need:

Engine mounts (aftermarket k member is best option but not mandatory)

Specific headers, or can swap flanges on SBF headers

A converter and transmission compatible with the LS platform

Correct length driveshaft

Fuel system modifications to adapt to factory LS rails, plenty of options there.

You can buy modified stock harnesses and ECUs relatively cheap, if you’ve got some electrical know-how you can obviously modify that yourself.

I’ve swapped a handful of these and would recommend the following for a mild powered NA build.

Aftermarket K member and mounts
Check AJE, Team Z

Aftermarket longtubes
Modified 351w headers come with their share of headaches

0411 ECU and factory harness modified for standalone

T56 and th400 use the same trans crossmember if you go Gm trans. You can incorporate the 4l60e from the silverado if you wanted to but they won’t take much abuse.

Build a new fuel system using AN line and use a decent in-tank pump.

Retain the foxbody radiator or use an Fbody radiator and electric fan combo. Either work and fit fine.
