i just finished a auto to 5-speed conversion on my 88 gt today, when i started it up it ran for a minute and stalled, like it normally would on any first start, but when i went to restart it,it just went clunk ,i tried to turn the motor over manually by the balancer bolt i cant budge it any way at all,,any clues what could have caused this??it really has me quite stressed

was it out of gear? Ive caught myself trying to turn it while it was in gear, forgetting to throw it in neutral

Check the starter. It may be binding.

My guess is something in the bellhousing is hitting.

Take the starter out. See if the edge is damaged.

I'm doing my AOD to 5-spd swap and noticed this

I actually had an issue with the KC clutch hitting the bellhousing when I first did my swap. Had to gring down a few spots for it to clear.

The guy didn't mention any abnormal noise when he had it running for a few seconds. If there was an issue with something hitting something, he would have heard it clunking like crazy the first time.

True, which makes me thing something may have come loose.

I'd pull the cluthc fork cover and take a look inside.

This may sound stupid but did you tighten the cable to the starter? I've done it. Just finger tighten them and forgot about it. It would start once then it would'nt start the next time. After i remembered what i did i tightened it and it was all good again

I want to measure mine. It doesn't look that tall.
