Fuel line connectors and JB Weld?

I had a questions about the conenctors on the fuel tank lines. I see that they are different, the return lines have a little plastic clip that slides into the end and locks in. The line going to the fuel filter has a different fitting.....i pretty much mangled it getting it off. Can i just get a different fitting? Can i clamp it with a hose clamp (i'm just getting her back running and need to do a test drive after the acident to see how the rear is...this isn't permamant), or do i have to get a new line?

I guess i'll thow this in too. The tank has a small crack in it from the accident. Can i just put somesomething like JB Weld on it to seal it for my test drive?

JB weld will work and you can also buy a two part epoxy for fuel tanks which I've used and works great, you just have to get the area clean and dry.

I redid my rear lines with fuel line from autozone and 1 dallor clamps

Ford uses hose with clamps inside the tank so I see no reason why you can't use them outside the tank. Just make sure you use fuel injection hose. You can get it at any auto parts store. It is a higher pressure hose than regular fuel hose.

JB Weld may temporarily work on the crack with gas. I fixed busted dirt bike engine cased with it and they lasted for years. Get it fixed the right way or replace the tank before you start using it full time agian.

Seriously, the right parts are easy to find, just go get them.
You can buy the plastic clips and even the hoses that go from the pump to the filter from 50resto.com for about 20.00
and the fuel tank can be had for 120.00.
when it comes to fuel systems you don't want to screw around and go cheap.
fix it right and be done with it.
Your fixes may work to drive it around the block but in a month or two down the road when you still haven't fixed it you will have a car fire and be out an entire car.

Depending on how big the crack is....

I had a small hole in my gas tank one time on my truck and my Dad gave me a bar of green "Lava" soap and said to rub it over the hole. I did and it filled in the hole and hasn't leaked again and it's been since 2001.

Whatever works right.

I actually went a different route and got some of this "metal putty" I for get the name but it comes in this tube and you just cut off how much you need. There is an inner part and an outter part and when you squish them together till they are uniform it begins to harden, it's like a steel patch now....pretty sweet.
I got rubber fuel line from autozone and just used hose clamps. Works good now, but i still check her every so often....probably will change it out over the long run.

Question: Can I replace my old metal fuel lines with the rubber stuff? I know alot of people use the braided metal ones, but could I just run the rubber instead?

You can use "Nylon Fuel Tubing" as many new cars come from the Factory with it.
