Does your CEL prove-out?

Did you jump the self test connector incorrectly, instead grounding the FP relay's coil? This allows the pump to run anytime the key is on.

Does it stay running even with the key out? If so get a new fuel pump relay.

My '92 is doing the same thing. I'm about to post my testing results. Look for "I think my '92 EEC is bad" to see what I did and the replies I get.

The same method works for the MAF cars as the SD (no functional CEL) cars. This is where you need to be starting.

Proving-out is when the various warning lights illuminate when you first turn the key on. This lets you know the circuit functions and the light is operative. If your CEL doesn't prove out, the bulb might be burned out. You can replace the bulb or use an alternate method of code retrieval.

What did the dealership tell you?

I didnt see you answer the question about if your CEL functions at all, nor did you discuss issues you had with alternate methods of code pulling.

Some things to check if codes won't pull.

You will also probably want to replace the CEL bulb.

Good luck.
