here's what I figured out. when I gas up with pumps that have the older spring type technology on the nozzle then it will shut off unless I turn the handle upside down. When I gas up with pumps that have no spring on the nozzle then no problems.
Haven't tried the upside-down trick yet, but where the pump has no outer hose (vapour hose?), I do not have any trouble fuelling.
Fingers crossed for the upside-down thing working for me - I might try it tonight. At least locally I can plan to fill when I pass a station with the nozzle-type I can use, but whenever I'm doing more than a grocery-run, it's a real pain in the glutes!
