Richmond Gear company has a video on a general rebuilt. Also the Ford factory manual has good detail.

from what I can remember, be careful with the abs sensors, they are plastic, and will break, you will need a specific size socket to get the driveshaft disconnected from the rear end. We reused all of the factory spacers on my 97, a machine shop will come in handy removeing the bearing off of the pinion shaft, hopefully it's close so they can press the bearing on the new shaft, and you might as well get a new one, while you are in there. I can't say for sure that the spacers will work on yours like they did on mine. We also reused the crush collar, and tightened everything together until it was pretty snug, there was a little play with the pinion shaft no more than an 1/8 of an inch though. I am glad that everything worked out, it made me nervous as f#@* until I finally got to get on it, than WOOHOO!!!!!!!! Good luck be prepared to want to shift in to 6th gear, oh wait we don't have one. Well worth it though.
