Good battery but no start...

I just relocated my battery a few months ago but never started the car. So today I made sure it was charged up, I hook it up and the interior light was very bright so I figured everything was all good...

I hop in the driver's seat and flip the switch on my fuel pump but nothing happens. Usually my fuel pump is pretty loud. Then I turn the key and u just here a loud click but no turnover. I grounded the negative to just the sheetmetal in the hatch. I drilled a hole and then just bolted the cable down.

So can someone give me some ideas. I already took my POS cable and everything off the solenoid and made sure nothing was out of the ordinary and then wired it back up.

So... LIGHTS WORK, but NO STARTER, NO FUEL PUMP, "DOOR CHIME?" DOES WORK. I'm thinking it's not the ground. Gotta be something on the POS end.

you need a better ground. i would ground to the frame or run wire to original ground location...stop taking things apart its the ground wire the starter requires a larger ground to operate than the lights.

Rear mounted battery ground wiring. Follow this plan and you will have zero ground problems.

One 1 gauge or 1/0 gauge wire from battery negative post to a clean shiny spot on the chassis near the battery. Use a 5/16” bolt and bolt it down to make the rear ground. Use a 1 gauge or 1/0 gauge wire from the rear ground bolt to a clean shiny spot on the block.

One 4 gauge wire from the block where you connected the battery ground wire to the chassis ground where the battery was mounted up front. Use a 5/16” bolt and bolt down the 4 gauge engine to chassis ground, make sure that it the metal around the bolt is clean & shiny. This is the alternator power ground.

The computer has a dedicated power ground wire with a cylindrical quick connect (about 2 ½”long by 1” diameter. It comes out of the wiring harness near the ignition coil & starter solenoid (or relay). Be sure to bolt it to the chassis ground in the same place as you bolted the alternator power ground. This is an absolute don’t overlook it item for EFI cars

Crimp or even better, solder the lugs on the all the wire. The local auto stereo shop will have them if the auto parts store doesn't. Use some heat shrink tubing to cover the lugs and make things look nice.

Thanks for all the help man. I'm usin a carb combo BTW. It's a little late at night for me to go get specifically gauged cable but I am going to go see what I can dig up in the garage and try again. Thanks
