Sorry, but I have 2 friends that have Cobalt SS's and although they swear their cars can run 13s stock, I have never seen or heard of one busting 13s stock and being able to prove it. It may be possible in perfect conditions with an Evan Smith like driver, but Ive yet to see/hear of it happening.

GM just released the stage kits for these cars and people are still running 14s, bc all they do is mod for power and dont take care of wheel hop issues. The best Ive seen close to stock was a 13.85 with tranny mounts and intake, maybe something else too. Most of them are running mid/high 14s stock. But from a roll, youd be surprised. Part of the problem is most of them are driven by kids that have no clue how to drive, yet think their car is Gods gift to domestic tuners They're also notorious lurkers and talk a lot of **** about anyting Ford, especially "crustangs". This will end up on their forums by lunch time, so talk as much **** as you can while you can, it should be fun

Cobalt=new cavalier, you should be ashamed

Everyone that has a cobalt ss thinks they have a minature vette... Its pathetic really...........

I drove one of those things at the Auto Show in Motion. It's got almost as much power as my GT had stock and it's lighter. I don't dig FWD but I got around the track faster in it than I did in the GTO. You can get it halfway through an "S" and just punch it without worrying about gobs of understeer (or the oversteer of the GTO). It does have a little torque steer and wheel hop off the line.

They're also at the head of the "Street Tuners" class this season as well, in front of Acura, BMW, Mazda, etc.,...

That said I will never allow myself to get beat by one and I will buy a Jetta GLI before a Cobalt SS.

I like to look at it this way, You can build or modify your engine for whatever HP, 4 cyl or v8, But the rear wheel drive car will always have the potential to be faster..You can and will always be able to make a mustang faster than a cobalt ar cavalier or srt 4... :SNSign:

Pretty much. Did you know "crustangs" suck bc we have twice as many cylinders as S/C Cobalts and run low 14s stock?

At least the 2 guys I know that have SS's are cool. We hit the track every now and then. Those guys can drive decent and are right around low 14s with minimal mods (exhaust), maybe more maybe less. Its only a 1000' track so I wont claim any 1/4 #'s for them, just guess.

Doesn't sound like a real race IMO, he kept up, you slowed doen and he passed. A Scion could do that. I was on my way hom yesterday, a(loud) 94-95 GT or Cobra(had badges) got in front of me, chick driver and she took off. I stayed with her for about 100yds before I decided to let her go, she continued to go faster and probably thought "haha, can't keep up huh?" But in reality, I was saving fuel, especially with prices the way they are.
