Some of you remember when I totalled my car. I bought it back from the insurance company because I wouldn't have enough money to buy a newer Mustang. Sent it over to a local body shop to get a new quarter, trunk, spoiler and bumper. While I was at it I bought new Cobra R's with 27540ZR17 Kumho ASX's. Figured I'd add a Bullitt gas filler door from 5.0 Resto. Be advised, the billet door doesn't fit flush on the left side; seems to be a little too big.
I had busted the driver's front wheel in half and there appeared to be no damage....until I put the new wheels on. The camber was WAY out (top of tire was leaning out) so I checked the camber plates. The strut had popped up so hard in the accident that it bowed the Steeda plate. I had to get a quick fix so an alignment place slotted the bottom of the strut to bring the camber back in. I have some Maximum caster/camber 4-bolt plates coming.
The MAC chrome tailpipe got torn off too in the crash so instead of putting another back on I ordered a Magnaflow catback which I'll install another day.

All in all the body shop did a great job. It only cost me an arm, a leg and my first child. PPG black was used as well as their new clearcoat which is more durable than factory. The first pic shows the damage and the second was taken today.

Joe

Well at first I was going to sell it to my mechanic for 2K. That money with the settlement would have given me $7500. In retrospect, I should've taken the money and run but I'm famous for reversing my decisions. Obviously I have more money in the car than what it is worth; but if I had a dime for every Mustang owner out there that is in the same boat, I'd be rich!

As soon as I get a new job I'm putting a sign in the window. I think I'll try to get the new 05. Hardtop this time...no more convertibles, they're a headache.

I feel your pain on the questioning of keeping or selling a salvaged SN95. I ended up buying back for ONLY 5% of the estimated value of the car. The car was worth $7000 according to the adjuster. For $350.00 I not only got my old car back but my loan paid off and still pocketed $2100 in cash. I still months later can feel my back pain come in SHARP bursts, so it really isnt all that great the car was a total loss. I am glad you got to get yours on the road again. I am in the process of pulling the 306 and I now have a 99 V6 that I am dropping it in. No fuel injection. Just the 306, Weiand Stealth intake and Edelbrock carb. No more AODE either. I am pulling the T5 that is in the car now and trading it off with some other "salvaged" goodies for a beefed up C4. Yes the 7.5 is going bye to in place of the 8.8 from the SN95. I still like the SN hardware but the Cobra R hood, spolier, and front bumper are just to AWESOME to pass up. I even got a red one. Same E8 Rio Red paint code as the SN95. Yee haw...........

Good to hear things worked out for you...except the back pain. Fortunately no one was hurt in my accident...just my billfold. Oh well, like my old boss used to say, "It's only money; I'll make more tomorrow."
