Will this work? I have to buy a new short block. Some internals failed and mine is shot. It was a cheapo anyway. I want avoid buying new heads so I'm either going to buy a long block or a short block and use my heads. Any thoughs?

Do the stroker if you can afford it. You can always upgrade to good parts when you can afford to.

If I could do the stroker am I going to need a different harmonic balancer and a fly wheel?

Depends what you have the rotating assembly balanced to. I'm no engine builder but IMO if you are building a low powered low rpm set up (which it looks like you are) you will probably be fine with 50oz balance. BUT with that said I would NEVER build a stroker or any new engine with a stock balancer/fly.

ok thanks....do you have any suggestions on where I should obtain a long block vice a short block? I'll sell my head since that seems to make a bit of sense.

You can do a shortblock and put your gt40y's on it. It wont make good power but I do not know your goals and budget.

Click the link in my sig and talk to Rick 91GT (rnhperformance) on here. He built my 347 shortblock.
