yeah...so my h-pipe is stuck in it's hangers and I cannot for the life of me get it out. Any suggestions?...i tried getting soap and/or soapy water up in the rubber but that is just about impossible.

I need my car back by tomorrow so I need some quick ideas.

thanks

If your talking about the rubber hangers...just cut them off...I don't have my rubber hangers on my Offroad H...if you don't want to cut them off (either get replacements if you still want them) but just keep trying the soap method...

I know if you can get them off...it is REAL easy to get them back on if you use some dish soap on the metal hangers to slide them in the rubber...

Good Luck

Don't cut the rubbers. They are extremely hard to get to and ford only sells them as part of a hanger kit which is like $40 for two.

WD-40 and a rubber mallet usually works

im assumeing your talking about the trans cross member brackets......seems like the rubbe has baked its self on there.....your just gonna have to tug the $hit outta it.....use some sprays but be carefull not to use something so harsh it will eat the rubber....no matter what dont cut em like other people said and you do need them...

I don't have the hangers and I have no problems...I have them on the muffler "hangers"...but not the H-pipe hangers...and it doesn't sag...

My goal with saying to cut the rubber hangers was if that is your last option (I think you can see that in my last post because I mentioned if you can get them off they are real easy to get back on)...if you can get them off...of course your going to reuse them...

Heat the hangers just until you begin to smell rubber then pull em out. 88Stangmangt is probably right. They're baked on.

thanks for the tips guys...as of yet I"m still stuck. However, my friend is coming home (i'm doing the work at his house) and when he's here I'm gonna get him to help me give it a few yanks and then if that still doesn't work I'll have him break out his torch. Hopefully I can get it off tonight and atleast START installing the new parts...they're nice and test fitted in the living room at the moment. Wish me luck...oh and feel free to post any new ideas..I'll take everything I can get at this point.

So you did cut the rubber hangers...are you using the h-pipe without them...?

I think he means he cut off the metal hangers from the pipe, but not the rubber.

Okay...yeah for some reason that confused me...it makes sense because then alls he had to do (like he did) was work on getting them off from outside of the car and then just slide them on the new one...

for future reference, that hanger will unbolt and slip out from the tranny with the trans and trans x member still in place. Pull the bolts holding it in, jack up the end of the tranny, andpull out the h pipe, and that would have allowed you to work on it with the h pipe on the ground.
