my hatch will only open when you unlock it with the key, my button in the glove box doesnt work, ive replaced and check the fuses, so i figure its something with the popper itself, any other ideas? and where i can find the part?

I don't know if this is how it's supposed to be, but is the key in and turned (don't know what position it's called) but when all the elctrical stuff comes on or when it's actually running? in my 91 hatch, the key has to be in and turned for the switch to pop the hatch.

sounds like the popper then. try looking for one at napa or somewhere. you could even trying a junkyard for a cheap fix.

i don't know about your local auto parts store, but the guys at napa here are very helpful with these things. just go in, tell them you need a hatch popper, they'll ask the year, make, model, and engine size, and they'll get everything you'll need.

50resto sells the entire electric latch for next to nothing! Just replace the whole assembly. Two screws and a harness connection...

I would disconnect the wiring from the trunk solenoid (in the actual trunk,) and use a multimeter on the wiring, while somebody in the cabin messes with the switch. See if the readings on the multimeter change at all. I don't know the wiring back there or the readings of the wires, so I can't help you with what setting to put the multimeter on.
