The Cadillac Northstar V8 was a very popular engine in long travel buggies and then rotary with a turbo and then acura engines. I've been out of the Glamis scene for a while but typically anything reliable that will rev high and keep cool is a winner. To see those sand cars wheelie with just a blip of the gas pedal is amazing.

I frequented back in the day when I lived in San Diego. Had a Banshee and a typical sand rail with a VW motor. I used to go before the BLM shut down about 80% of the dunes, vehicle permits, and checkpoints on Holiday weekends near Competition Hill. The party scene was crazy back then and I'm actually glad that they kicked out a lot of the party scene from there.

Yep, I went during the years of 97'-05' or so. Between a few to several people would die each holiday weekend. Seeing Robbie Gordon in his trophy truck was AMAZING. Ahhh the good ole' days. I bet that place is still a ton of fun. Where I live now there are some dunes with small bowls. I'm going to throw a paddle tire on my YZ and check it out this next Spring.

yea they're serious whips. light saber whips. paddle shift would be legit. Ill add that to the mod list. would go good with the steering wheel I just put in.

I usually try and camp at cement flats near the ranger station on Gecko, its easy and I don't have to go deep like at roadrunner. usually pretty hardpacked there. next week we are staying at the washes by the Glamis store for the first time so that should be interesting.
