Hey all, I have a 65 coupe, with a 289 non hipo, with a 3 speed manual, mechanical clutch linkage.I recently cracked the right exhaust manifold, hit a raised manhole cover here in NYC, which gave me an excuse to put headers in, haha, found this is no easy task....I ordered the patriot mid length, in raw metal finish, looks nice....but they would look nicer, innnnn the car, but they are not cooperating with me. Can anyone tell me, if these are possible to get in, what mods have to be made, and if not, what headers would fit, comfortably in the engine bay of this baby....I have a lift, pipe benders, and a welder, available to me, so, is it possible to Frankenstein these headers in? Thanks in advance ,for letting me pick your brains, lol.

I have FPA headers in my 70 with trick flow r heads. I never thought I could get headers in without cutting shock towers but they fit like a glove. Maybe give FPA a call?

many years ago i installed a set of inexpensive headers on my 66 coupe. the right side went in like they had eyes, the left side though were a struggle, i ended up having to remove the Z bar to get them in. both headers went in from under the car.
