im going to the races and i have bbk shorttys, im not going to be running my exhaust jsut the ehaders, should i put a little piece of them so the heat isnt blowing on my firewall or will i be fine?

I'd at least have an X or H pipe on there. As a reference, a couple of days ago an Infiniti QX4 came in for service where I work. It was throwing a code for evaporative emissions. Hoisted it up, found a lot of plastic had melted off. Three feet away the exhaust had fallen off and was blowing the exhaust right into the gas tank.
theres no plastic on my car around the headers, and the exhaust isnt even on the car a X or H pipe isnt something i can swing, im pretty sure alot of cars just run right from the headers though
I'm sure a lot of cars do run from the headers..but they are longtubes. If an exhaust can melt plastic that far downstream, at 3 feet away, imagine air straight from the combustion chamber, less than a foot from your firewall. Lots of plastic behind the dash, and wiring too. You know that grey material with a bunch of recycled material in it that's used under carpets? It ignites extremely easily and burns very quick. Heat from the combustion chamber could do it. What would your insurance company think?
