may sound stupid but is there a difference:shrug: , i see this lfp heat exchanger for under $300 then i just emailed joe at chicane and he told me about his intercooler for $699 which sounds pretty sweet if it does what he advertises and the install isnt too bad...any insight on this would be appreciated...

the heat exchanger is a radiator that cools the coolant for the intercooler. Water goes from the reservoir to the intercooler which is between your supercharger and intake, gets heated up after a while and then the pump takes it to the heat exchanger and it gets cooled off again, then makes it way back into the reservoir to get picked up.

now, with that being said, the intercooler is far more of a needed thing then the heat exchanger as the saleen one is twice as big as a cobra and has dual fans already. If it were me, i'd get the reservoir upgrade and intercooler before a heat exchanger on our cars

I've done both...First the heatexchanger that LFP sells is almost twice as big as the one on the saleen. The intercooler install takes about 5 to 6 hours +- you have to take off the intake and blower off ,drill some holes put it all back again. I think Joe has a vid of this on hie web sight...I worked with LFP using my car to mock up there products...

Just for conversation sake when i took my car to the track sunday after driving to the track i touched my heat exchanger ice cold touched the 03 cobra i brought too ouch hot. so some things are good. I will be getting joes intercooler and lfp res as well two great products that actually work

The heat exchanger being cold isn't a good thing. It just shows how inefficient the saleen intercooler is. The gaps around it are letting hot air go past it instead of through it, otherwise, the heat would be transfering more into the echanger where it can be cooled. And an just an FYI, the intercooler itself is not that bad, it is the gaps around it. Chicanes IC takes care of this, but a much cheaper alternative is to cut a 1/2 plate of phenolic material to fit on top of the IC to fill in the gaps.
