I recently finished up changing heads, injectors, maf, on my 91. My local tuner set me up with a "start" chip. Right now the car runs like crap, I know that some of this is tune related but one problem that is driving me nuts is, when I shut the car off, I can hear some hissing from near the fpr/fuel rail area. I took the rail off and inspected the injector o rings and I found one to have a cut on it. I replaced the offending part and put it back together and it still does it. It also backfires through the exhaust and is hard to start (I have to hold the throttle open). Any ideas where to look, I have one more night to work on it before I bring it in for my tune, and would like to have my crap together when I get there. Ill pull an all nighter if I have to. thanks

Hissing from the FPR area... right around the corner of the lower intake from there is the PCV. Make sure the hose is on tight and that the pcv is seated correctly in the grommet. Anything wrong here can give ya a vac leak that can cause all of the probs you've listed.

You sure the timing is right? Back firing, hard to stay running seems to be a timing issue.

Injectors are used and look almost new, timing is set to 10 with spout out, pcv is in and secure, fuel pressure is set at 38 with vac removed. Spoke with my tuner and he said it should work itself out tomorrow. In other words, if there is a problem, they will figure it out and rectify it. I spent most of my night replacing all the injector orings, and I added a second 3/8 spacer for the intake ( upper was touching my taller valve covers just a bit). Got it all together and nothing changed. I guess Ill find out tomorrow....

I had to get new valve covers to clear my rockers. The breather holes arent in the stock location. I made the mistake of plugging them up, figuring that the pcv would take care of the venting. The sound was coming from one of the caps I used to plug up the breather hole. when we took it out, sound went away. Things went really good on the dyno too, made 282 hp and 306 ftlbs. Thanks to the guys at Dez racing

ok, new problem. when I turn right, the engine dies. I have a half tank of fuel. I installed a new aeromotive pump when I had the heads off. thinking the baffle has come off. thoughts?

fix the hissing, and fuel tank/pickup. Don't worry about the backfiring and trouble with starting. Those should be easily corrected with the tune.

ok, got new tank installed, started her up, ran great, shut her off and went inside to eat and shower. Came back outside to bring it to gas station, I tried to start it and all I hear is a click from the starter relay and all of a sudden smoke starts pouring out from my heater vents. I quickly disconnect battery and start poking around to see wtf is going on. I find that my aftermarket water temp gauge had been chafing on some dash wires. It melted all the wires for my aftermarket gauge lights. I cut and cap the wires, and tried to start it again and all I get is a click from the starter relay. Ill look closer tomorrow when it's light out. If its not one thing it's another, car is going to break my bank and my spirit.

maybe you shorted the battery and drained it, somehow, and there's just not enough juice left to crank her over.
