So i bought a Foxbody last week with a Loads of modifications but nothing seems to be well set.

Basically this is what is done to it

302

Heads Eldelbrock rpm valve 2.02'' 190cc with springs pushing rods solid lifter eldelbrock

cams eldelbrock 7122

Carb holly 600cc

intake eldelbrock

kit msd hvc with coil and rev limiter

headers longtube bbc with flowmaster 2.5"

distributeur summit racing

intake air gap

With 275 nitto 555r

brand new rebuild 5 speed tranny

Basically what i am looking for is either a correct setup were i can run 12 seconds or with the mods would it be better to upgrade the block

let me know
ran only high 13s.

I don't think you should be having an issue getting into the 12s. Can we see your best timeslip?

If you haven't taken it to the track, then how do you know how fast it is?

The heads are typical. Most modified cars here are running a similar combo. ( albeit that all are injected and have parts from a different mfg) It's one thing to have a car that isn't running right based on some malfunction, or defective part, but if everything is correct and the engine runs as it's supposed to, there is a piece missing to an otherwise complete puzzle.

You didn't say what rear gear was in the car..

If 12s is fast and 13s is slow, it's in the traction and/or tune, not the top-end parts. Went 12.63 with GT40X heads, GT40 intake, and E cam with a T5 and 4.10 gears on a 1.83 60' on stock sized all-seasons. Good track prep.. Carbs often make a little more high end and a little less low end than a long-runner EFI. I think the edelbrock combo would make more power. So, I'd say work with what you already have.

The fitech stuff will not make it faster, many stangs run well into the 12's with the stock fuel system and electronics.
those systems are mainly for swapping carb to efi.

That should be mid 12's in parts at least.
The heads aren't too big.
If you know your way around a carb, changing it to a fuel injected/carb setup isn't going to alter anything.
Go and have it dyno'ed.
What year is the car? Is this a efi to carb convert?

Not going to lie. If there is something I truly hate, it's when someone takes an EFI fox and converts it a carb.
The fox computer is pretty much the most adaptable system in any car, ever... I've seen it take 650rwhp without being touched.
If it were my car, i'd start collecting and reinstall the factory computer harness, then add a mass air conversion and a good efi intake.
Probably add thousands back to the value of the car, it will run better and basically self tune.

I'm not a cam expert (I always prefer custom, designed by experts), but I know those heads are pretty decent, if you are concerned about their well being, have them value jobbed, cost around $250 and likely pick up 15rwhp.

In an actual street car to do that you’d have a potato Chip of a car that is not safe at all . Bad advice ....

These threads mean nothing without a timeslip. Your idea of 13's is slow and 12's is fast means nothing to those trying to help you out. I read you have experience with a drag bike and Subaru's but then you should also know the difference of 1 second in E.T. might be only in the launch. We have all seen a 12 second car go 13' on a bad launch. If you say you only ran 13's, then you are at a bad track or you can't drive. If you say you can feel it, feel us the MPH. It's is more of a gauge whether you have the right parts or not, rather than it's 1 second slow.

With that said, an E headed, cam and a 302 with 3.73 can go in the 12's if set up properly with a good launch.

You both are right in a sense. Lose 1000lbs in a fox means a bunch of plastic pieces that would turn a fox into a hot box with no working windows, carpet, interior gutted and minimal wiring. Basically a race car.
That little coupe pictured can't be made much lighter. It's basically a comfortable race car.

Bud we’re talking in terms of removing that type of weight from a foxbody mustang which is what is in this forum . I know all about your car . They are awesome cars but they are potato chips no matter how you cut it .

Well to clarify, you would be replacing a lot of metal with fiberglass or composite pieces, if you don't add a cage you could get it down below 2500 lbs and yes it would be a potato chip, or more accurately a noodle. But you know that, after all, you have built some really nice stuff.
the golden rule of going fast quickly is to stick a lot of hp in the lightest car you can.
this conversation can go on forever
