Help me revive my Sonic Blue 03 GT

Hi Everyone,

It's been a while since I've visited these forums, probably a good 2+ years, I don’t even remember my old username. I have a 2003 Sonic Blue Mustang GT that I have unfortunately neglected. I got busy with work and life in general and my once meticulously maintained car degraded into a car with swirl marks and water spots galore. I tried waxing the car to help with the McGuire’s Gold Class wax I had but it only had a minimal effect. I remember back in the day Zaino’s was all the rage? Are they still the brand of choice? Do they make a product/products that could help restore my car to its former glory . I know the odds of me removing them all if minimal, but if I could get a majority of it gone I would be happy. The bug has bitten me again and it just kills me to see the car look like that, especially because I caused it

Well, waxing probably did nothing because all it did was go on top of all of the imperfections. You should definitely go over the entire car with a clay bar. If you can get your hands on a buffer, use it. Zaino does have some good products, and they have the Z-PC fusion paint cleaner that should knock out the water spots and reduce the swirls. It can be done by hand as well, but will be better if you use a buffer. Everything that you do pre-wax is really what makes the difference, and after that, most waxes will look great.

Usually if the paint is heavily swirled or scuffed or do i dare say scratched It will require a buffer. Nothing is going to help you out with just a top coating. Even a hand glaze will net ya several days.

I just did my car I had 2- 1000 watt lights shining on the car as I buffed it. You would not believe what those lights show up. And Im only talking about spider webbing that is casued by just wiping the car clean and is hard to see by the reg eye.

Well - I have ordered my products, it was a lot more money then I thought it was going to be .

I spoke to Sal Zaino and have the following products on thier way:

Z-AIO
Z-18 Claybar
Z-5
Z-6
Z-7

I also ordered up some Sonus Der Wunder Polishing Towels....

And then to make sure the job gets done right the first time I ordered a Porter-Cable 7424 Car Buffer / Polisher

Hopefully if I spend as much time on the car next weekend as I plan to it will be looking pretty good again . I will post before and after pics!

Sounds like you have just about everything you need to seriously improve it. It seems like a lot of money, but if you apply Zaino thin, as recommended, a bottle lasts quite a while. I look forward to seeing the after pictures.

Hey Guys,

So far I have done the Z-18, Z-AIO and a spray down of Z-6. Haven't even gotten to the Z-5 yet, but I am looking forward to it. Check it out, sorry for the bad pics .

The Zaino PC-Fusion is amazing stuff. Couple that with a couple of layers of z-5 and things will be golden!

I'm used the combination on my Sonic (because of a couple of lazy brush car washes years back) and the results were noticable and great. I'm going to post pics when finish up (and the weather cooperates).
