Help please - fuel issue

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have an 85 (produced 7/85) LX5.0 (M code) auto CFI - all original equipment, It ran fine when parked for the winter but now won't start.

It's getting spark and will start with fluid
The injectors are firing
The fuel internia switch is set and good
It's getting only trace amounts of fuel at the bleeder valve
I have 12v at the the tank pump but can't here a pump running
I have unplugged the fuel filter and have no pressure there either

I'm thinking the intank pump went bad??

According to everything I've read there is supposed to be a 2nd inline pump - but for the life of me I can't find it - I traced the lines from front to back.

Any ideas

Thanx Todd

I was thinking inertia switch or Could it have anything to do with the fuel pump relay?

I have power at the tank pump - do you know where the 2nd(inline) pump is located?

And where is the pump relay?

I know it's good to have a second pump to take some strain off the in tank pump but I didn't know that they came with them. My car does not have one, it is a 1987. What years/models did your sources say had them?

Sorry didn't see the question about the pump relay. In my car it is under the driver's seat. Hope i'm not just confusing you more with my different year.

Your car does not have a second pump and if you have power to your pump and not getting fuel its the pump.

It certainly seems like he's exhausted all other options doesn't it. You say his car did not have the second pump. For my personal knowledge did any mustang come with that?

If you are getting voltage to the pump but it isn't operating then I would have to say that the pump is bad.

to my knowledge only the 03-04 cobra's have 2 fuel pumps. the only way i can think of it maybe having two is if it was carburated and he left the mechanical pump on the side of the block and added EFI. or some one has added an additional pump for high fuel flow. like a t-rex or KB boosta pump but i dont think this is the case. and if someone did run a line from an electrical pump to a mechanical pump the car would never run because it would never get enough fule pressure.
