I know this has happened to a few of you so any advise would be appreciated. My 96 GT will start, but wont stay running unless the I press on the gas pedal. As soon as I let off it dies. I was thinking maybe fuel filter, PCV valve or something along those lines. Thanks guys.

Sounds like the IAC is acting up. Clean it and see if that helps the problem with some carb cleaner. If that helps, just go ahead and buy yourself a new one so that you dont have to deal with it again.
Try here: http://www.muscularmustangs.com/iac.html should give you a better idea of what to do.

Hmmm

I drenched the dang thing in Carb Cleaner and it seems to be running fine now, BUT now the check engine light is on. Do we all still think its the IAC? And if it is any idea on how much they are going for?

Light could be on because you may have unplugged it with the key on?

Just take it to autozone or somewhere and have them check the code ..

I think they are around 50.00 ~75.00 ..

Can anyone tell me or have a pic of where the IAC is on a 96 GT. I heard that once you find it, it only takes 5 minutes to replace.

how did you drench the thing in carb cleaner if you cant find it? on my 99 its attached to the upper intake plenum, right on the front of it, it has one wire running into it and one hose. Do a search on here if you cant find it there was a pic posted with it labeled. Definately sounds like a bad iac I found one at napa for 51.99 autozone didnt keep them in stock, discount didnt sell it.

Well if it won't run clogged up it definatly won't run if you disconnect it.

It is attached to the front of the TB...there is a thread with a pic here somewhere but since we can't search anymore I guess you will have to guess.

EDIT: Found one...
