ok, one thing bad after another. im working on a friend's '85.5 svo. all stock.

1st, the initial problem w/ the car was that around when it spools it starts to cut out and stops making power through the rpms. kinda like its missing but not. seems like the fuel cuts off but when driving normal its fine....out of timing maybe?????

2ND!, i drove it around the block and i opened it up in 1st to show a friend wat it was doing and about 5 grand it backfired horribly loud and then it died. as i was rolling i put it in 2nd and popped the clutch to start it and it wouldnt start. after i can to a stop i tried to start it and it wouldnt start. it turns over fine it just wont start.

HELP WOULD BE AWESOME!!!!!! ASAP!!!!

thanks

sounds like the timing was/is way off, Check the timing belt, make sure its lined up like it should be. I would also have the TFI module tested. Does the car have decent fuel pressure?

It sounds like the timing was the problem, but if it backfired but wouldnt start again, then you may have fried something

sounds like you jumped time. check the timming belt tensioner make sure it still has some tension left in it. reset base timming and try again. oh why your in there change the belt too.

fuel pressure should be around 40psi

TFI module is located on the back side of the dist. toward the firewall.

i took the dizzy cap off and the metal piece on the rotor was broke off and it was like, burned up. so i bought a new rotor and still doesnt start. seems like theres not any spark. but the owner told me that he took it to a shop and an hour later the dizzy and the coil ****ed up. possibilties that would have happened for some odd reason again?

question. which way on the dizzy is advanced/retarded? clockwise/counter clockwise?

the gears overtime get play in them and in turn makes them rip the teeth off of each other, I went through two dist gears and a imput shaft in one week, it happens.

Sounds to me like potentially an oil pump problem. Likely a clogged pickup screen. Do you have access to a real oil pressure gauge? If so, hook that up and see what's going on with your pressure.
