shouldn't really need one. People put C4 in and they don't have vss.

def need a vss signal the pcm uses this signal to keep idle speed up when coming to a stop and to prevent stalling .iff its a factory harness it should have a connector for the vss ,look on the tranny also the vss should be installed unless the hole is plugged or u would have a major leak it should be on the drivers side towards the rear in the tailshaft housing.

What rpm is your idle set at? What code is on your computer?

VSS is not your problem unless (possibly), you're running a computer from a 94+ (and even that's questionable). I run an A9L with no VSS. That signal input wasn't used by the EEC for "stop-stalling" until vehicles later than the Fox.

Your stalling problem is the result of something else that's not working or set properly.

The VSS wasn't used by the computer until they went to Mass Air. On Mass Air cars, it does provide a signal to increase IAB airflow as the car slows to a stop. This helps prevent stalling, particularly with AOD equipped cars. I have watched the idle speed slowly drop after coming to a stop.

See "Help me create the Surging Idle Checklist" at http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=698148
for help with your idle problems. The first two posts contain all the updates to the fixes. I continue to update it as more people post fixes or ask questions. The fix for your stalling problem will be in there.

thanks for all the replys. I have used the check list and fixed my idle problem.it was very helpfull.when i bought the car it would not even start or run.so hats off to you for your check list!far as i known the computer and harness is out of a 1991 5.0 stang.the computer is A9P.I have put a new iac, tps, plugs, cap and rotor on.i have pulled the codes and fixed what was on there then erased them.i have not checked them again have not had the time to.the car will stall out at a 1000 rpm or lower.it is like you cut the ignition off.i checked the msd box and wiring everything was ok.the car runs to good down the road to have a ignition problem.the guy who wired the car cut out any wires he did not want to use.so little by little i check and move on.i just thought that this was a good place to start.thanks once again!
