The mat on the underside of my hood looks like crap. Any suggestions on how to dress that up a bit?

Some people say that if it is removed the hood paint will be damaged from the heat of the engine...

Its true. My Jeep never had a hood liner and the paint on the hood isnt in as good of shape compared to the rest of the paint due to the heat, its alot lighter and some of the warmer spots really show.

Leave it on cuz if you live where it gets cold it helps to keep the heat in and also helps the motor worm up faster...

I had my liner off for 3 years, no paint issues. I'm not running one on my CF hood either, but I may put one on cause the underside is boring.

I felt the same way so I modified mine with some creativity to match my custom trunk...

The flat black spray paint trick will also produce a nice, fresh looking mat. I did a couple years ago, and only came up with the custom idea this past winter.
Flat black is the key and it will look better than a new mat.
