I just did that to my car a couple months ago, when out to look at something under the hood at night. Didn't close hood all the way, jumped in and drove it the next day and boom. Bent my hinges too. Hood is fixable.

I know it will be fixed properly. Just one of those things, once you know it happened Im sure I will always see some imperfections...

Been there, it sucks.
I did the old forget the hood pins trick, good thing I was only rolling up to a stop
sign at the end of my street, damage wasn't that bad.

A little more than 20 years ago, when I was a detail kid at the first body shop I worked at, we had just completed a restoration on a 1978-79 Trans Am 6.6L, Smokey and the Bandit car, but it was metallic blue with gold firebird decals, gold wheels. 27,000 original miles. After we finished up the car, got the decals installed and got it all polished and detailed, I decided to rip it up on the little street that the shop was off of. After hitting 3rd gear, the hood went up and made it up probably 3/4's the way up. Luckily I hit the brakes in time, before it smashed the glass, roof and pillars. I almost my pants, pulled it around front and never looked back. I never closed the hood all the way. That wouldnt have been good, I never told anyone about that, except some friends. I bet some of those guys who worked there would have a laugh now.

After pulling over, one of the bolts in the upper latch part under hood was missing. Not sure if it was gone before, or had just vibrated out.

Unfortunately, working in a shop this is a REAL issue when a mechanic is getting rushed and simply forgets to double check.
