Progress Thread Hoopty v2.0 - Engine Teardown

I still have the stock mufflers from my 2014 GT laying around, you can have them if you want to make them work?
I'm going to try this Amazon muffler first, but I appreciate it.

Fuel system is done. The guy doing my harness should have it done tomorrow and I might have it by Saturday. Maybe making noise sunday?

ITS..... ALIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIVE.
I've been running wide open lately between work, training, and working on the bronco when I can squeeze it in. It runs, but a long way to go until it drives.
Overall, I give it a 4/10 difficulty rating. It was WAY too easy, and still around the $5k mark. I'm not mad about it.

Mustang update:
Wouldnt start the other day, same symptoms as before: Ran when parked, no spark at next drive. So, I ordered ANOTHER TFI module and installed it. Still nothing, no spark. Really odd! played with it some, leaving the module loose when I tried other things. Car starts. Weird, but ok. Tighten the module up, no start.
WTF Over?
Pulled the distributor to inspect the spade connectors where the TFI connects to the hall sensor and, well...

All of the connectors were pushed over. I guess that explains it then! It starts now. Hope that's all the drama for a while, cant have 2 non running vehicles.

My 250 is at the dealer ($7k worth of work, a laundry list of things, see below) and I had to take them all new lug nuts yesterday. Drove the fox and absolutely hammered down on it leaving the dealer and short of the transmission grinding like usual, its seemed to run better than it has ever run lately. I wonder if the contacts being off has caused some of the ignition break up that I have been fighting for a while.

*duh*.

Anyway, once the bronco is driving, I am absolutely yanking the 3550 out for a rebuild. Hope to be soon, once I recover from the costs of the truck.

*AHEM*

For those still reading the truck is a 2017 F250 6.7 with 233k:
- New MAF/MAP sensors ($580)
- Leaking condensor and blend door malfunction ($3500)
- F/L tire belt separation. But, I got 59,000 miles out of a set of Ridge Grapplers! ($2000)
- New lug nuts to replace the dog-sh!t 2 piece design ($300)

I'm sure there's going to be more and then taxes will set it north of $7k BUT I looked on the used lot before I left.
a '23 lariat 4x4 6.7 CCSB w/ 85k miles (basically same truck, less miles) was $60k. I thought I overpaid 5 years ago when I bought it at $42k so I guess I'm going to drive the fkn thing into the ground at this point.

Here's the block next to the dipstick. Ive had the car 6 years and it was running under boost for a few years before I got it as well. A ton of abuse and a lot of ignorance on my part. Frankly, I'm shocked it lasted as long as it did.

No plans yet other than removing the turbo. I've had my fin with it.

ima need you to go ahead and make YouTube super stupidly successful so you can get a Dart Block 363 with twins so I can live vicariously through you…
:D
I actually reached the monetization threshold the other day and now wading through the approval process. SOOOO it would be great if I could make some money and buy parts. But, itll be a NA application, no more turbos, at least on this car.

That’s awesome, congrats buddy. My socials and my YouTube where freight training last year, was starting to actually make money- then I had to shut down most of it for family reasons. Maybe one day I’ll get to try again lol.

And……. I feel like I’ve heard the no more turbos thing before :rlaugh:

Sorry to hear that man, its a huge time suck so I get it. I definitely dont have the time I used to either.

As for the no turbos thing, who knows. I could still stick a new shortblock in it and keep going how it was, probably a little less boost though, lol.

Bronco has been kicking my ass. Can't get the rad fan to work. It's controlled via the PCM through some ridiculously overcomplicated wiring and circuitry. For whatever reason, the pcm will not trigger the low speed relay, the first in a series of 3 relays. Thats the only thing preventing me from going on a test drive, other than bleeding the brakes.

Likely, Ill buy a high amp relay and rig it to be running when the key is on, but that's not really ideal.

I mean, test drive at night and don't stop moving... You'll be fine.

Have you tried using the low speed relay to trip an heavier one or tested the relay to see if it is working?
